DiscoverYourMoney

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 25, 2026

This policy explains what information DiscoverYourMoney collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We only ask for what we need to match you with programs you may qualify for.

Information we collect

Account information. If you create an account, we store your email address, your name if you provide it, and sign-in details handled by our authentication provider. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and name from Google.

Questionnaire answers. To match you with programs, the questionnaire may ask about:

  • State and ZIP code
  • Age and household size
  • Household income range
  • Housing and homeownership status
  • Children or dependents and their age ranges, and pregnancy
  • Student and education status, and federal student loans
  • Military, veteran, or military family status
  • Occupation and employment information
  • Disability-related, Medicare, and citizenship responses
  • Tax filing-related responses
  • Current participation in benefit programs
  • Utility, home improvement, and vehicle-related information

Many sensitive questions include “Not sure” or “Prefer not to say.” We never ask for your Social Security number or bank account information for benefit matching.

Your saved activity. If you have an account, we store the programs you save or mark as claimed.

Membership records. If you subscribe, we store your membership status, plan, renewal dates, and payment-processor customer and subscription reference numbers.

How we use your information

  • To compare your answers against program eligibility rules and show you matches
  • To save your profile and dashboard so you don’t have to start over
  • To provide and manage your membership
  • To respond to support requests
  • To keep the service secure and working properly

Payment processing

Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details are entered directly into Stripe’s secure payment form and are not received or stored by DiscoverYourMoney. We receive only limited information from Stripe, such as your subscription status and billing dates. Stripe’s handling of your information is governed by Stripe’s Privacy Policy.

Cookies, local storage, and analytics

We use your browser’s local storage to:

  • Remember your questionnaire answers on your device so your results can be shown
  • Keep you signed in to your account

Stripe’s payment form may set its own cookies to process payments and prevent fraud. Our hosting provider may keep standard technical logs (such as request times and error information) to operate the site. We do not currently use advertising cookies or third-party marketing trackers.

Third-party service providers

We rely on service providers to run DiscoverYourMoney, including providers for website hosting, database and authentication services, and payment processing (Stripe). If you sign in with Google, Google also processes your sign-in. These providers process information on our behalf to provide their services.

Data retention

We keep your account, questionnaire answers, and saved programs while your account exists. Membership records may be kept as needed for billing, accounting, and legal purposes. Answers stored only in your browser remain until you clear your browser’s data.

Deleting your account or data

You can request that we delete your account and associated data by emailing support@discoveryourmoney.com from the email address on your account. We will confirm your request and let you know when it has been completed. Some records, such as billing history, may need to be kept for legal or accounting reasons.

Security

We use access controls so that your account data can only be read by you and by authorized administrators, and we use secure (HTTPS) connections. No online service can guarantee perfect security, so please use a strong, unique password and contact us if you believe your account has been compromised.

Links to other websites

Our results link to official government and program websites so you can verify information and apply. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.

Children’s privacy

DiscoverYourMoney is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Questions about children in the questionnaire concern a user’s household and are limited to age ranges.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service changes. We will update the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, notify members.
